About Vector Airport Systems
Vector Airport Systems is an established international aviation software and services company with a positive team culture and an emphasis on visionary Leadership. Our hard-working, innovative team delivers aircraft tracking, revenue generation, and mission-critical SaaS solutions to our clients.
As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced .NET Software Engineer to join our team.
About the Position
You’ll help build and modernize the .NET applications that support software used at more than 150 airports worldwide. These systems handle aircraft tracking, revenue management, and the SaaS platform airport operators depend on every day. A core part of that is our ERP and billing platform, the system airports use to manage landing fees, fuel flowage, leases, and invoicing. You’ll spend much of your time building and expanding this platform. The work is hands-on and includes shipping features in C# and modern .NET, carrying legacy .NET Framework and Windows workloads forward onto Azure App Services and managed services, and writing code that's built to be deployed, observed, and supported in production.
You'll work directly with our DevOps engineers, architects, and product leadership, and you'll follow your work through to production rather than handing it off at a pull request. If you want real ownership of the systems you build, a small team where your decisions stick, and work whose impact you can actually point at, we'd like to talk.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and web applications in C# / .NET (ASP.NET Core, Web API, Entity Framework) supporting production airport workloads.
- Develop and extend features within our ERP and billing system rate and fee calculation, invoicing and billing cycles, accounts receivable, general ledger integration, and financial reporting — with the accuracy, auditability, and data integrity that financial software demands.
- Modernize legacy .NET Framework and Windows/IIS-hosted applications, moving them onto modern .NET and Azure App Services, containers, or managed alternatives.
- Design and optimize data access against SQL Server and Azure SQL schema design, queries, stored procedures, migrations, and performance tuning.
- Build for the cloud we run on: App Services, Azure Storage, Key Vault, managed identities, Private Endpoints, and configuration patterns that work cleanly across multiple environments and tenants.
- Write automated unit and integration tests and keep builds green in GitHub Actions; partner with DevOps on build, release, and environment promotion.
- Instrument applications with Application Insights and structured logging so that production issues are diagnosed from data rather than guesswork.
- Write secure code by default input validation, authentication and authorization with Entra ID, secrets kept out of source and in Key Vault, and OWASP Top 10 awareness in every review.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and production readiness reviews; document decisions and raise the bar for engineering quality across the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the application, database, and hosting layers, and feed the fixes back into code and tests.
- Work with product and stakeholders to turn requirements into working, supportable software.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development in C# / .NET, including production experience with ASP.NET Core and Web API.
- Strong SQL Server skills — writing and tuning queries, designing schemas, and working with Entity Framework or a similar ORM against Azure SQL or SQL Server.
- Experience building or maintaining ERP, billing, invoicing, or other financial/transactional systems including rate calculations, ledger or accounting integrations, and reporting is strongly preferred, along with an appreciation for the accuracy and audit requirements that come with handling money.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying applications on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, Application Insights).
- Experience modernizing legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET, or a clear understanding of what that migration involves.
- Working knowledge of Git-based workflows and CI/CD in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions — branching, pull requests, and automated builds and tests.
- Solid grounding in software engineering fundamentals: object-oriented design, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, REST API design, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with Windows Server and IIS hosting, and comfortable troubleshooting across the application, database, and network layers.
- Practical understanding of secure development OWASP Top 10, authentication with Entra ID / OAuth 2.0, and handling secrets and configuration safely.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with non-engineers and following work through to production.
